Diane Hoffman

I am an artist, designer, and teacher. I spent many years making a living as a print designer in the late 80's and early 90's. I designed everything from cell phone advertisements (when they were the shape and weight of a brick) to college promotional materials.

I have spent the last 16 years in the classroom, teaching drawing and watching the web change into an extraordinary communication tool. I became familiar with extremely useful technology (such as Digication and Slide Room) that supported and advanced teaching and learning. I began to understand even more fully how the Internet can be a way of reaching outside the classroom and developing broader applications for creativity and meaning. The web has been essential in connecting my creative practice, from painting to animation, and creating a living documentation of my life and work. One of the most exciting components of web is the way it has enabled me to integrate my studio life and teaching with my service to a variety of communities. In addition, my growing expertise with web-coding languages has helped me to build and design web management systems. I see this as a way to empower my clients to publish sophisticated online content—that is, to tell their authentic stories—without any knowledge of coding language.
